Description
Pagid RST 1 is a very high-friction racing compound developed for applications requiring maximum initial bite, high braking torque and exceptional resistance to fade. Its semi-metallic construction and progressive torque characteristics provide an immediate, powerful response while maintaining performance under extremely high thermal loads.

What it’s good for
Ideal for sprint racing, tarmac rallying, GT and touring cars, high-downforce applications and other demanding motorsport use where outright braking performance takes priority over longevity and refinement.

RST 1 is particularly effective on heavier cars or applications using relatively small-diameter brake discs, where its very high friction level can provide the additional braking torque required.

What we like about it
The initial bite is the standout characteristic of RST 1. It responds immediately to pedal input and generates very high braking torque, making it particularly effective for short, hard braking zones and drivers who prefer an aggressive pedal response.

Its excellent temperature capability and fade resistance mean that performance remains strong under repeated heavy braking, while the progressive torque curve helps keep that high friction level manageable.

Worth knowing: RST 1 prioritises bite, braking torque and fade resistance over modulation and longevity. Compared with something like RSL 29 or RSL 1, expect a more aggressive response along with increased pad and disc wear. For endurance use or drivers who favour fine modulation and a progressive pedal, an RSL compound may be the better option. For outright stopping performance, RST 1 is the more aggressive choice.
