Description
GAZ Gold Twin Adjustable Coilovers for the BMW E81, E82, E87 and E88 are a track-focused suspension package designed to provide greater control over damper behaviour than a conventional single-adjustable coilover.
The front dampers feature independent bump and rebound adjustment, allowing the two characteristics to be tuned separately. External reservoirs increase oil capacity, helping control damper temperatures and maintain more consistent performance during sustained track use. The rear retains the platform's separate spring and damper arrangement with adjustable ride height and damping.
What it’s good for
Ideal for serious track-day cars, clubsport builds and tarmac competition, particularly cars running semi-slick or full slick tyres. The additional damping control makes the kit well suited to drivers who want to develop their suspension setup around different circuits, tyres and conditions rather than relying on a single combined damper adjustment.
As with GAZ's other motorsport-focused kits, spring rates, damper valving and ride-height range can be specified around the weight, tyre choice, power and intended use of the individual car.
What we like about it
The independent bump and rebound adjustment at the front is the biggest advantage. It allows you to make meaningful changes to how the car manages braking, turn-in, weight transfer and how quickly the suspension settles without one adjustment necessarily dictating the other.
The external reservoirs also increase oil capacity, improving resistance to damper fade during longer sessions, while the dampers are designed to withstand the increased side loads associated with semi-slick and slick tyres.
We also like that GAZ builds the kit around the individual car rather than supplying a generic spring and damper specification. Every kit is dyno tested before dispatch to ensure it meets the required build specification.
Current lead time is approximately 4–6 weeks.
Worth knowing: The standard kit is not fully 2-way adjustable at all four corners. The front dampers have independently adjustable bump and rebound, while the rear dampers use a single adjuster that alters compression and rebound together. A twin-adjustable rear upgrade is available for drivers wanting independent bump and rebound control at both ends of the car.
