Description
BC Racing DS Series coilovers take the proven BR Series platform and add digressive damper valving for a more track-focused suspension setup. The digressive piston generates greater damping force at lower damper speeds to improve control of body movement, before the damping curve levels off at higher shaft speeds to allow the suspension to respond more effectively to bumps, kerbs and surface imperfections.
What it’s good for
Ideal for fast road cars, track-day builds and clubsport applications where improved body control is wanted without making the suspension excessively harsh over bumps and kerbs. The DS is particularly well suited to drivers looking for a more track-biased setup than the BR while retaining straightforward single-adjustable damping.
What we like about it
The digressive valving gives the DS a useful balance between chassis control and compliance. Higher low-speed damping helps control roll, pitch and weight transfer under braking, acceleration and cornering, giving the car a more responsive and supported feel. As damper velocity increases, the damping force doesn't continue rising as aggressively, allowing the wheel to move more freely over kerbs and sharper bumps and helping the tyre stay in contact with the surface.
Worth knowing: The DS isn't simply a stiffer BR. The key difference is the shape of the damping curve. Digressive valving allows greater control of relatively slow chassis movements without requiring equally aggressive damping when the wheel encounters a sudden bump. For a track-focused car that still needs to deal with imperfect surfaces, that can be a significant advantage.
